MASINDI DISTRICT

Welcome to Masindi District PDF Print E-mail

Located in the mid-western part of Uganda with its headquarters 210 km away from Kampala, Masindi borders Gulu in the north, Apac in the east, Nakasongola in the south east, Kiboga in the south, Hoima in the south west, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the west.

Uganda’s largest protected area, the Murchison Falls National Park, spills into Masindi, making it a truly idyllic area. The Budongo forest, known for its rich chimpanzee population and the exhilarating Karuma falls are both found here.

However, if there is an attraction that makes Masindi stand out with pride, it is the Murchison falls, easily the most spectacular scenery this side of Uganda. Imagine thunderous volumes of white water spinning on the rocks and plunging into a whirling pool at the bottom, causing a spew of mist to shoot up into the air like a fine rain shower! It’s indeed an area of outstanding natural beauty.
