The district has 250 primary  schools of which 198 are Government aided with a total enrolment of 122,000. Twenty eight are private with a total enrolment of 7764  pupils.  

Secondary Education.

There are 37 Secondary Schools of which 10 are government aided and 27 are privately owned. 

Tertiary Education

There are 5 government aided tertiary institutions and 3 private tertiary institutions.  The major courses being offered in these tertiary institutions include: Carpentry and joinery, Brick laying and Concrete practices, Tailoring, Commercial Courses Forestry and Education.
