Presentation at the Right to Know Day scheduled for 28th September 2017 in the District Chambers

On behalf of Masindi District Local Government and on my own behalf, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Right to Know Day an event celebrated internationally on the 28th September every year.

I would like to thank the organizers of the event and on a special note thank Recreation for Peace Development Organization (RDP- Uganda) for the concerted efforts you always play towards complimenting Government efforts and for having enabled Masindi join the World to mark the Right to Know Day.

As a Local Government due to budgetary constraints we never mark such events yet a vital role we should play because it is on such days that we should ensure that citizens are sensitized on their rights and for transparency and accountability should avail the public Information.

Masindi in a bid to educate the public on their rights has gone ahead to ensure that all notice boards are updated with information on budgets and work plans, we have had baraazas organized in partnership with Office of the Prime Minister and Civil Society, held weekly radio programmes, produced Press Releases, held Press conferences and formed whatsup groups all aimed at information sharing among others.

Under the Information and Public Relations, three Officers are currently undergoing a 3 days training under Ministry of ICT with technical support from National Information and Communication Technology Authority with the aim of equipping them skills in Web Content Management and you are welcome to check on our District website www.masindi.go.ug for your input and we pledge to continue sensitizing and availing the people information regarding Masindi.

We long forward to the continued partnership and will always avail the citizens’ information for as long as it does not prejudice the security of the District.

“For God and My Country”
