Baylor - Uganda Programs Officer asks People of Masindi to Test for HIV/AIDS

The programs officer Baylor Ugand Dr. Betty Nsangi Kintu has asked the people of Masindi to take responsibility and test for HIV/AIDS in order to reduce the spread of the disease.
Dr. Nsangi disclosed that the prevalance rate of Masindi is at 7.8% HIV inffection rate higher that that of the country which stands at 5.6%.
She expressed concern over the increasing HIV prevelance rate in the district saying that if people dont change their behaviour towards HIV/AIDS, the situation is likely to hit the district so hard.
She was speaking as the chief guest durring the comemoration of the world AIDS day held yesterday at Masindi Public Primary School play ground under the Theme " National Soliderity and A shared Responsibility Towards Ending AIDS".
Speaking at the same event, the Acting District Health Officer ( DHO) Patrick Baguma disclosed that currently we have 11,749, HIV/AIDS petients and of these 11,688 are on treatment while 737 people living with HIV/AIDS are not on medication.
The centter manager TASO Masindi Dr. Bonifance Oryokot underscored the thereats from some community members who jeopadised the fight against HIV/AIDS by scaring those that have the virus and are on treatment.
Meanwhile the Deputy Mayor Masindi Municipality, Zaina Byenkya called for combined efforts to faight against the disease.
