Rotarians in Masindi Launch Tree Planting Project

Masindi District Rotary Club on Tuesday 1st September Launched a tree planting project with an aim of greening the entire District.
Led by Martin Mugabi the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Masindi, Rotarians Launched the Project and Planted a few Medicinal Tree Seedlings at the RDC's Gardens.
Speaking during the Launch, the RDC Martin Mugabi advised the residents of Masindi to plant trees so that the environment can be protected. He added that, trees play a vital role in protecting a healthy
Speaking during the same event, the Rotary President Masindi Ronald Baguma, disclosed that they intend to role out tree planting to all gazetted places within the District that have been approved by
National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). He added that, their aim is to green Masindi.
The District Wetlands Officer Olivia Nabukenya revealed that, they have embarked on medicinal tree planting instead of commercial trees because the medicinal trees help to treat people and also provide shade.
She also advised the locals to take good care of the trees especially the trees that will be planted in schools.
