Masindi RDC flaggs off relief items to affected persons

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Masindi, Emmy Ngabirano yesterday flagged off both food and non food relief items to residents who were ravaged by heavy hailstorms in September last year in the different Sub-Counties across the district.
The relief items were 13,000 kgs of maize flour,6,500 kgs of beans and 300 pieces of tarpaulins.These items were to be dispatched in the following Sub-Counties;Miirya got 7062.4 Kgs of maize flour,3531.2 kgs of beans and 163 tarpaulins for 338 affected house holds, Pakanyi received 682.3 kgs of maize flour,341.1kgs of beans and 16 tarpaulins for 32 affected house holds, Bwijanga got 3042.06 kgs of maize flour,1521.3kgs of beans and 70 tarpaulins, Kiruli received 239.7 kgs of maize flour,119.9 kgs of beans and 06 tarpaulins for 13 house holds while Kimengo got 276.6 kgs of maize flour,138.3 kgs of beans and 06 tarpaulins for 15 house holds and Kijunjubwa received 1696.5 kgs of maize flour,843.2 kgs of beans and 39 tarpaulins for 92 affected house holds.
Addressing the Sub-County leadership of the beneficiary Sub-Counties while at the DHO's office,the RDC called for timely accountability of the relief items.
He also urged the beneficiaries to use the tarpaulins for post harvest handling.
Speaking at the same ceremony,the Secretary for Finance Nyakato Pamela who represented the District Chairperson,urged the Sub-County Chiefs to ensure that there is transparency while distributing the relief items.
