Energy Minister Launches PDM cash to beneficiaries in Masindi District

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources,Hon.Ruth Nankabirwa on Friday last week, officially launched the Parish Development Model (PDM)cash to seven SACCOS in Masindi District to run thier projects.
Nankabirwa,urged the people who have received PDM SACCO money to utilize the funds and improve on thier livelihoods through producing for the market.
She was addressing PDM beneficiaries together with masses who had gathered at Masindi Municipal Booma grounds as she officiated the Women's Day Celebration for Masindi district that was held under the theme,"Equal Opportunities in Education, Science and Technology for Innovation and a Gender Equal Future."
In another development,the Energy Minister, encouraged residents of Masindi who are not connected to electricity,to apply for connections at reduced rates.
But she however,stressed that priority will be given first to value addition centers since these generate revenue to the district.
Speaking at the same function,the District Woman Member of Parliament,Dr.Florence Asiimwe decried lack of electricity as one of the major impediments to development of the Municipality and the District as a whole.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Emmy Ngabirano lauded the district for steering the PDM well saying that the district recieved funds worth Shs 799 million for the FY 2022/2022 and out of this shs 449 million was released for operations and that all the 46 Parishes had received money on thier SACCOS.
He told the Chief Guest,that seven SACCOS were ready for publically to recieve cash as the Minister launches officially.
He however, cautioned against asking for kick backs from those who have received PDM SACCO money.
