ICT Minister asks Media Practitioners to have facts in Reporting

The Minister for Information ,Communications Technology and National Guidance Hon. Dr Chris Baryomusi has asked journalist and editorial teams to always cross check their facts to uphold evidence based reporting.
The Minister, explained that some media practitioners don't check their facts and end up reporting false news stories.
He was today speaking to media practitioners and communication officers drawn from Bunyoro Sub-Region during a three day workshop training organized by the Media Council Uganda under the theme ,"The Drive For a Responsible Media in Uganda". The training is being held at Country Inn Hotel Masindi. The three day Media training that commenced today will end on Friday 17th December 2021.
Speaking during the same training, the Member of Parliament for Masindi Municipality Hon. Joab Businge appealed to government to avail transport to Communication Officers to enable them traverse the district while gathering relevant information of public consumption.
He however condemned unbalanced reporting which a section of journalists exhibit especially when it comes to electoral season.
Meanwhile, the District Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga requested communication officers to be innovative while executing their duties as a measure to promote government programs.
