The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Masindi district,Tappy Namulondo has underscored the pivotal role that Local Governments play in increasing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)and development of the country's economy.
She notes that, government is focusing on achieving a higher household income and employment for sustainable socio-economic transformation as the main goal of the NDP IV through using the Local Governments as the key line of service delivery areas.
She said this today, while opening a consultative meeting on the draft NDP IV held in the district council chambers and organized by National Planning Authority (NPA).
While making her presentation,the representative of the National Planning Authority Chairperson Edith Mbababzi,said that the issues picked from Masindi including subsidies to local investors, free market competition among others would be incorporated into the draft NDP IV for consideration at higher levels.
Speaking as he closed the meeting,the District Council Speaker Moses Kiirya, commended NPA for extending down to Local Governments to identify what ideas would be added to the draft NDP IV.
He however,asked the team to consider the issues of Masindi into the final NDP IV plan.
