Masindi Municipality Receives Finger Lings

In an effort to fight poverty, Masindi Municipality yesterday received 40,000 Male Tilapia Fish Finger Lings following the first lot of Fish Finger lings that were distributed on Tuesday to the District Fish Farmers.
Masindi Municipality has also received it's consignment from National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) Secretariat through the Operation Wealth Creation Program (OWC).
During the handover event held at the Resident District Commissioner's (RDC) Offices, the OWC Coordinator for Buruli County Major Nobert Besisira Akiiki advised Fish Farmers to form SACCOs in order to benefit from Government aid.
However, some Fish Farmers, expressed concern over lack of Provision for them to be supported regularly in Fish Activities.
The Principal Fisheries Officer Masindi, Prudence Alituha explained that, they decided to give Male Tilapia Fish Fingerlings to Farmers because they concetrate much on eating and this enables them to increase on their size and thus generating much income to Fish Farmers through sales.
Zaina Byenkya the Deputy Mayor Masindi Municipal Council, thanked Government for Supporting Fish Farmers in the Municipality.
The District Chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga encouraged the beneficiaries to lay much emphasis on feeding the fish well in order to attain much profits and also lead by example for other groups who might be interested in engaging in Fish Farming.
