UNRA to tarmack Masindi Port to Apac,says UNRA boss

The Executive Director for Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA),Allen Kagina has disclosed that the Authority will soon pave Masindi Port to Apac district as funds were already approved with funding from Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
She says, apparently the technical team is working on the bridge designs at Masindi Port and once the process is complete,they will commence the works to relieve traffic of motorists who are usually delayed by ferris at the port as they cross over to Apac district.
She added that about 7kms will be paved from Rwenkunye to Apac.
She also pledged to support the district with road equipments whenever they are in need of them.
She was addressing district leaders during her courtesy call at the district headquarters on Thursday this week.
On his part,the District Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga,urged UNRA to take up four major district roads for paving which were; Masindi -Rwenkunye road, Ihungu-Bulyabusenyi road, Ikoba-Ntooma road and Karongo-Katanga road.
He however, appreciated the maintenance works done by UNRA on the un paved roads since most of the district roads are motorable.
In his closing remarks,the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Masindi, Dhaala Sanon commended UNRA for constructing the oil roads in the region as this will ease transportation of goods and oil products.
