The Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese, Rt Rev George William Kasangaki has called for peace, unity and transparency between the District Council and the technocrats for Masindi District Local Government.
The Bishop made the call yesterday during the end of year party celebrations for Masindi District Local Government that was held at the District Headquarters.
He added that, “You people need light and not darkness to be able to work harmoniously”, the Bishop said.
Earlier on, the Bishop led a service with an aim of praying for the staff of Masindi District Local Government together with the District Council to mark the end of the year.
He was later gifted with Christmas bonanza plus other two clerics one from All Saints Church and the Moslem Sheikh who represented the District Kardh.
Speaking at the same event, the Chief Administrative Officer Masindi Phionah Sanyu appealed to the technocrats to focus on performance in the new year and that they should have team work to enable efficient service delivery.
She also said, “We should forgive each other where things didn’t go so well and move into the new year with cleaned hearts”.
The member of Parliament for Buruli Constituency, Hon. Aled Akugizibwe also asked the technocrats and the District Council to forgive each other and work as a family each the district is to attain at most development.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, the District Chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga appreciated the District Council Speaker and the Councilors for accepting to reconcile in order to conduct council business well.
He also lauded the technocrats for their hard work since the district can’t operate without their services.
He also joined hands with the rest of the speakers to ask for peace and forgiveness from both the political and technical wing as we usher in the new year so as to move the district forward.
Cosmas, later awarded certificates of recognition to over twenty (20) best staff performers including a number of health workers who have managed to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
