Classroom Blocks Launched For Construction
By Brian Atuhura
The Deputy Resident District commissioner (D/RDC), Masindi Richard Tabaaro yesterday launched the construction of two classroom blocks at Kilanyi Muslim Primary School in Labong Subcounty and Nyabubale Primary school in Bwijanga Sub-county with a call to parents to massively support these schools by bringing learners to study.
He says, he has noticed that most parents in the communities near the schools are sabotaging the government efforts of ensuring all learners attain education since many of them fail to support their children financially.
He therefore, advised parents to appreciate the value of education since educated people transform the society economically, socially and politically.
According to the Bills Of Quantity (BOQ's), the two classroom blocks at Kilanyi Muslim Primary School will cost 65.1 million shillings while Nyabubale Primary School two classroom block construction will cost shillings 62.2 millions.
Speaking at the same function, the District chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga warned the contractors against producing shoddy work since such works won't be paid for.
Byaruhanga, also pledged to lobby for the construction of more classroom blocks in these schools but with a condition of producing good grades.
The LC3 Chair person for Bwijanga Sub-county James Mudede asked for construction of more boreholes and a health center in Ntoma parish since the residents face challenges in accessing health care services as they trek long distances to health centers and also many of them share water with animals which is drown from valley dams since the area has few boreholes.
According to statistics, the enrollment currently at Kilanyi Muslim Primary School stands at 4,464 pupils while the enrollment at Nyabubale Primary School is at 107 pupils.
However, the leaders in the District have expressed concern over the enrollment at Nyabubale Primary seven class which has only two pupils.
