Local Leaders Ask For Pipped Water

Local leaders in Kikingura Town Board in Masindi District have asked government to connect pipped water to residents of the area to save them from sharing water with animals.
Led by the LC I Chairperson, of Kikingura Village, Deo Rubanjwa disclosed that the locals, have been consuming untreated water from one of the swamps, which has put their lives in danger of contracting diseases since even animals drink from this water source.
Through him, they have also requested for extension of rural electricity to cover the villages around the town which among others include Kyamaiso, Rwenjojo, Kyandagi, Kyabikuti and Kyakaheru villages.
He was speaking yesterday, during the fundraising ceremony for the construction of Kikingura Town Church.
More than 500,000 shillings was realized from the items sold.
On his part, the Member of Parliament for Bujenje County, Hon. Kenneth Kiiza Nyendwoha who represented the Prime Minister, pledged to follow up on the issues raised in order to have the town developed.
The District Woman Member of Parliament Dr. Florence Asiimwe who made a cash contribution of 200,000 shillings pledged to continue supporting the construction exercise.
The District Chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga urged the leadership of the Church to use the opportunity of the wheel loaders to pour marram into the site construction to fill the gaps of the foundation level when the machines come to rehabilitate roads in that area.
He however, promised to continue supporting the Church since he is among the people who started the construction work.
