Gender Based Violence (GBV)cases are rising in Masindi district caused by food scarcity in some parts of the district.
This was revealed yesterday,by the District Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga while reading the state of the district address report, during a council session held in the district council chambers.
He said,with the recent heavy down powers that ravaged anumber of crops,has left families in dair need of food and hence leading to violence in homes.
The report further disclosed that,there has been high school drop out rates attached to failure by parents to meet school requirements.This has led pupils get involved in child labor inorder to assist thier parents meet minimum standards of living.
The schools which were cited to have reported high drop out rates among others included, Kyatiri P/S,Nyambindo P/S,Kasenene P/S and Kimanya Upper P/S.
