Masindi District Chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga yesterday officially released the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results of 2022 for the district indicating a slight improvement in candidates who scored division one.
According to the results read by the District Inspector of Schools (DIS),Monica Kiiza,out of 3,582 candidates who registered from 73 centres for PLE,269 candidates scored Div.i representing 8.0% while 1,583 passed in Div.ii representing 44%,751 pupils passed in Div.iii representing 21%, while 502 pupils got Div.iv representing 14%.Meanwhile,417 pupils were un graded representing 12% while 53 pupils representing 1% missed the examinations.
The total percentage pass rate of the district was 88% with Walyoba Brilliant P/S emerging as the best school in the district while Budongo Saw Mill P/S recorded the worst performance.
Kemigisa Trinny Comfort who scored aggregate six from Kinyara Sugar works P/S emerged as the best candidate in the district.
Kabango Town Council scored 3.0 points emerging as the best in the district while Nyantonzi Sub-County scored 1.5 points and was recorded as the last performing Lower Local Government in the district.
Addressing stakeholders shortly after the release of the PLE performance at Country Inn hotel,the District Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga blamed the poor performance on the teachers'industrial strike,the E-registration exercise as well as absenteeism of both teachers and pupils.
He however,thanked girls for performing well since they beat thier male counterparts in the performance.
Speaking at the same event,the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Phionah Sanyu, appealed to all stakeholders to jointly support the education sector inorder to produce better results.
In his closing remarks,the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Emmy Ngabirano challenged parents to support thier children with meals at school to enable them stay in school and concentrate.
He also urged development partners undertaking education projects to clearly spell out thier roles towards improving on the academic performance.
In abid to keenly supervise the poor performing schools with aview of making them improve thier performance,the RDC chose to monitor Kinumi P/S in Miirya Sub-County,while the District Chairperson chose to handle Kiina P/S in Bikonzi Sub-County and CAO chose to handle Kitamba P/S in Bwijanga Sub-County.
