No Funds for COVID-19 - Masindi Accounting Officer

The Acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Masindi Geoffrey Nkurunziza has said that the District has no money to use in the fight against the Second Wave of COVID-19.
Robinah Nabbanja, The Prime Minister yesterday directed all Local Governments Country Wide to provide Funds in the fight against COVID-19, however, Nkurunziza told members of the District COVID-19 Task Force Committee during a meeting that " The District used all the money Dispensed to it and now that the Financial Year is ending, we have no money but we have vehicles that members can fuel and use to support the COVID-19 Pandemic".
He however disclosed to members that if the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MOFPED) sends more funds to the District, He will be able to support the District Task Force financially.
Addressing the same meeting held at the Resident District Commissioner's (RDC) Office, the Chairperson of the Committee Rose Kirabira who is also the RDC Masindi expressed concern over Bar operators who are flauting the COVID-19 guidelines issued by The Ministry of Health. The Notable places that she mentioned include; Kijura, Kirasa, Kijungu, Kijunjubwa, Kabango among others.
Masindi Municipal Mayor Ronald Kyomuhendo accused UPDF Soldiers of disrupting peace in Kirasa during night hours.
Meanwhile, The Ag. District Health Officer (DHO) Masindi Patrick Baguma decried the rising cases of the Second wave of COVID-19.
He said that, since the outbreak last year in March , the District has registered 164 cumulative cases and 12 people have succumbed to COVID-19 Pandemic.
