Residents of Masindi district were yesterday given a total of 27 exotic heifers from the Bunyoro Affairs Ministry.
Addressing the beneficiaries who had gathered at the district headquarters,the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs Hon.Jennifer Kacha Namuyangu, encouraged those who got the animals to take good care of them such that they get out of poverty.
Masindi district live stock farmers got 19 heifers while those from the Municipality received 8 heifers.
Hon.Namuyangu noted that,the President directed her Ministry through the Office of the Prime Minister to procure the exotic heifers since they are known for high milk production and accumulate much income which can eventually boost the livelihoods of the Bunyoro people.
She also said that,her Ministry has of the recent past supported micro projects with grants aimed at improving household income but with the coming of the Parish Development Model(PDM),this support was ended.
She also revealed that, anumber of institutions including churches and schools have been also given relief inform of iron sheets to roof their structures.
She also cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the animals as the security agencies will arrest those found selling them.
