Micro Finance Support Center to Open a Branch in Masindi

In a bid to extend financial services nearer to the people of Masindi, Bulisa and Kiryandogo districts, the management of Micro Finance Support Center has revealed that soon by will open up a branch that will serve these three districts.
The revelation has been made today by the Board chairperson Micro Finance Support Center, Dr Aliba Kiiza during a stake holder meeting which was aimed at discussing issues on Financial support held at the District Headquarters.
Dr Aliba, expressed concern over people who have been facing challenges to access their services due to long distances and other bureaucracies involved that have for long hampered easy access of these loans.
He has therefore, asked the District Leadership to avail office space and run adverts to allow suitable candidates preferably male and female to run the operations of the branch in Masindi which will also serve the districts of Bulisa and Kiryandongo.
He however stressed that applicants should be residents of Masindi and should be able to speak Runyakitara.
Speaking in the same meeting, the Masindi Municipal Mayor Ronald Businge Kyomuhendo said that most government programs come with good initiatives, but end up collapsing due to stringent conditions attached to them.
He expressed excitement with the approach of Micro Finance Center which he said that it aimed at alleviating poverty levels with a low interest rate of 8% on a yearly basis.
On her part, the Deputy Executive Director for Micro Finance Center Hellen Masika said that their loans depend on each category and therefore encouraged locals to use the organization to be able to increase on the household income. She disclosed that for small and medium enterprises they can be given more than a hundred million shillings so long as they have a collateral security.
In her closing remarks, the Secretary for Finance Pamela Nyakato who represented the District Chairperson appreciated the Micro Finance Support Center for thinking about Masindi by opening up a branch which will serve three districts.
She however questioned against mismanagement of the financial services.
