The National Program Officer from International Organization for Migration (IOM), Victoria Nabiteeko has advised citizens willing to seek employment from outside Uganda to go through the authorised channels as they migrate inorder not to be harassed.
Victoria says, Ugandans who have been mistreated adversely are majorly those who use illegal channels without proper government procedures who usually face all sorts of danger.
She was addressing stakeholders during a meeting on awareness raising on safe, orderly and regular migration that was held today at the district headquarters.
Speaking in the same meeting, the Senior Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (SACAO),Fred Kisembo who represented the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), appealed to government through migration agencies to create counseling and guidance sessions especially for citizens who are determined to seek for greener pastures in foreign countries.
In his closing remarks, the Secretary for Production Geoffrey Kiiza Bigabwa who represented the District Chairperson, appreciated the agencies in migration for enlightening the residents of Masindi with the migration process.
He however, called upon the youth to seek skills through the industrial hubs so that they employ themselves since the sector has high demand.
