The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda Rt Hon. Robinah Nabanja has appealed to leaders in Masindi District to champion development in their areas of jurisdiction in order to alleviate poverty.
Nabanja made the appeal yesterday, as she passed out over 900 local leaders from the district who have completed a two weeks cadre course training at Masindi Police Training School in Kabalye.
She also urged the leaders to use their offices to serve and develop society and she however challenged them to be patriotic in order to develop the country.
She asked the leaders to always monitor and follow government programs in their areas and report corruption to avoid tax payer’s money from going to waste.
The Premiere later on, delivered a donation of shillings 30 million to the leaders from H.E the President of Uganda.
Speaking at the same event, the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magyezi asked the leaders to implement what they have learnt from the training and popularize the Parish Development Model program so that the people can benefit from it through improving their lively-hoods.
He said this quarter, each parish will receive shillings 17 million to implement the Parish Development Model and in the next Financial Year 2022/23, each parish will get shillings 100 million to spur development at the parish level.
