Col.Kabalega calls for unity to attain development

Col.Joseph Kabalega from Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC),has called upon the district leadership of Masindi to avoid wrangles and spearhead unity inorder to develop the district.
He said that,the district has missed to tap into a number of developments due to un necessary fights.
He urged the leadership to utilize him as a son of the land to benefit more from Central government as well as in the oil and gas sector.
He was addressing stakeholders today during an engagement organized by UNOC that was held in the district council chambers.
While making a presentation on UNOC activities, Sandra Wobusobozi told members that they had embarked on land acquisition for the construction of pipelines that will transport crude oil from Hoima to Mpigi at the storage terminal and that the refinery project is worth us $4billions.
She added that, government acquired 29.57 sq kms of land where the Industrial Park is sitting and that this area will be used as a collection centre of various industries both heavy (polymer)industries and light industries.
She told participants that,the only project that kicked off is the Kabalega International airport which she said was at 90% completion and only a few key issues would be fixed soon.
She further said,by the close of this year,they will have cleared land to pave way for the early works of the industrial park.
Speaking as he closed the meeting,the District Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga,said that the community was optimistic of seeing oil in 2025 since the construction of the pipeline has started in Tanzania.
He however, appealed to the Planning department to integrate the district work plans so that they align all stakeholders towards the oil and gas sector opportunities.
