Gender Minister rallies girls to stay in school

The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Hon.Betty Amongi Ongom,has advised girls to remain focused on education inorder to open doors for employment opportunities.
Amongi, challenged girls from poor backgrounds not to give up but rather study hard to create economic empowerment.
The Minister delivered the message yesterday,as she officiated as the Chief Guest during the Women's day celebrations for Masindi district which were held at Kabango COU grounds in Kabango Town Council under the theme,"Accelerating Gender Equality Through Women Economic Empowerment".
Speaking during the same function,the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Emmy Ngabirano,assured the locals that shs 50m had already been disbursed to PDM Wendi SACCO accounts for Parishes and Wards across the district and only awaiting mobilization of beneficiaries to access the funds.
He also told the gathering that,4,900 households had already benefited from the funds sent to them last year.
The District Chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga,said that,60-80% of the agricultural production is done by women something he stressed that this makes agriculture thrive with the work force of women.
The District Woman Member of Parliament Dr Florence Asiimwe, called upon the gathering to appreciate her efforts by giving her another term in office come 2026.
