Bunyoro Affairs Minister commissions iron sheets to schools, churches

The Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs,Hon.Jennifer Namuyangu Kacha, yesterday handed over a consignment of over 1,000 iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister with the aim of supporting vulnerable schools and churches in Masindi district.
Addressing beneficiaries at the district headquarters,Hon.Namuyangu urged the beneficiary schools to immediately utilize the relief otherwise they risk losing them to other needy schools who might be ready to roof thier structures.
Out of the nine beneficiaries,seven were schools where by each school received 100 pieces of iron sheets while the two Churches received a total of 300 iron sheets.
The seven schools that received include, Ikoba Boys primary school, Kikingura primary school, Kibbali primary school, Kimengo primary school, Masindi Centre for the Handicapped, Karongo primary school and Nyakyanika primary school.
The two Churches were Labongo church which got 140 pieces of iron sheets and Nyabigoma church received 160 pieces of iron sheets.
The Minister also challenged the residents of Masindi to embrace government programs aimed at eradicating poverty.
Speaking at the same ceremony,the District Woman Member of Parliament Dr.Florence Asiimwe,urged parents to focus on educating thier children inorder to have an enlightened society.
The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC)Hellen Tugume,welcomed the support from the Office of the Prime Minister and she pledged to follow up those who have received the relief to make sure that it's put to good use.
The District Male Youth Councilor Simon Byaruhanga who represented the District Chairperson,appealed to faith based institutions to preach against poverty so that the faithfuls engage in income generating projects.
