Shs 1.3b water project launched for construction in Masindi

Masindi district Resident District Comissioner (RDC), Darius Nandinda has today launched the construction of Bulima piped water supply system worth shs 1,393,731,467 with an appeal to the residents of Bulima to rally behind candidates who emerged victorious in the recently concluded NRM primary elections.
Speaking at the same function held at Kitaboha cell in Kisalizi Ward in Bulima Town Council,the Acting District Engineer Alfred Ocen, explained that the project will be implemented in a phased manner as funds trickle in.
He added that,the project was contracted by Rok Technical services Limited who will execute the works for a period of 158 days since the contract commenced on 27th May,2025 and is expected to end on 25th October,2025 utilizing shs 311,045,168 for the first phase.
He noted that,the project design is for 20 years with atarget to serve a population of 14,843 with the current population being estimated at 8,712 people representing the population growth rate of 2.7%.
He further said that,the project completion is expected to be in the financial year of 2027/2028.
Ocen stated that,the community is expected to start receiving water at the Public Stand Pipe (PSP) by the end of the financial year of 2026/2027 and domestic connections expected in the subsequent financial year.
On his part,the Director ROK Technical services Limited,Engineer Phillip Kakuru, appreciated the community for providing them an enabling working environment.
He also pledged to employ both skilled and unskilled labour force from within the locals.
The District Vice Chairperson, Kassim Kabagonza who represented the District Chairperson,urged the Contractor to exhibit quality work.
He also challenged the residents to utilize the Ministerial Zonal Office(MZO)to process land titles stressing that titled pieces of land attract more value when investments occur.
